CTE emerges as South Africa’s second human bone bank, following signing of Agreement between TUT and Bone SA.
2005
CTE successfully established and under directorship of Prof. Daniel du Toit.
2005
CTE has gained industry support and donor numbers show steady increase.
2006
ISO 9000 accreditation awarded (Quality Management System)
2007
CTE relocates from Arcadia campus to its CSIR facilities, proudly housing its state-of-the-art laboratories.
2009
ISO 13485 accreditation awarded and 1000th donor procured.
2011
CTE is approached by Pretoria Eye Institute; implements cornea banking program.
2011
CTE expands to include other cadaveric tissues within its profile.
2011
CTE coordinates drafting of tissue bank regulations.
2012
R. 182-02-03-2012 tissue bank regulations promulgated.

CTE celebrates 10 years in successful tissue banking (Prof Pieter Marais; Dean).

CTE is founder member in formation of South African Tissue Bank Association, SATiBA.

CTE signs agreement with Netcells; and adds cardio vascular tissue procurement to profile.

Skin banking program launched, and research lab at the CSIR campus is officially opened.

Collaborative agreement signed with the Organ Donor Foundation and other tissue banks in South Africa, to increase visibility and donor registration.

Inclusion of Femoral Head Donation program
